Putin approved a draft joint statement with Turkey and Iran on Syria
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed approval of the draft joint statement of Russia, Turkey and Iran. He announced this on July 1 during an online summit. The Russian side supports this document, which demonstrates the determination of Russia and Iran to Turkey as guarantors of the Astana process to conduct consistent joint work in order to establish truly lasting peace and stability in Syria, the head of state emphasized. The purpose of the prepared statement is to move towards the elimination of terrorist groups in Syria. Putin also emphasized that the imposition of economic sanctions against the Syrian government is illegal, and their goal is to stifle the state economically.
