Miroslav Lajcak became the EU Special Representative for Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina
The European Union appointed Miroslav Lajčak to the position of special representative at the talks between Belgrade and Pristina, the EU headquarters in Brussels reported on April 3. The task of the new special representative to achieve comprehensive normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, to help partners in the region overcome the legacy of the past and raise good-neighbourly relations to a higher level, as well as to improve the effectiveness of the European Union in the territory of the Western Balkans, the message reads. Miroslav Lajčák, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Slovakia. From July 2007 to March 2009, he served as the High Representative of the international community for Bosnia and Herzegovina. In May 2017, he was elected President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly. From January to December 2019, he was Chairman of the OSCE.
