Kosovo prime minister accused of usurping post after no-confidence vote

The former Prime Minister of Kosovo and head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, accused Kosovo's head of government, Albin Kurti, of usurping power on 14 April. On his Facebook page, Haradinaj stated that the new measures introduced by the Kosovo Ministry of Health to combat coronavirus, which limited the right of citizens to move, were a violation of the constitutional order and violated human rights. Recall, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo ruled that the restrictions imposed by the Government of Kosovo on the freedom of movement of citizens as early as March are unconstitutional, but decided to postpone the entry into force of its verdict for two weeks (until April 13) due to the circumstances of the pandemic and pointed Kurti to a loophole in the Constitution, which will allow to introduce new measures without violating the basic law of the province. On 13 April, the Government of Kosovo introduced new rules of movement, taking into account the direction of the court. The real reason for Haradinaj's powerless rage is that Albin Kurti continues to hold the post of Prime Minister despite his vote of no confidence on 25 March and refuses to grant President Hashim Tachi a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister from within his party or to agree to the drafting of a so-called unity or technical opinion government. In this with Haradinaj is the former partner and head of the Democratic League of Kosovo Isa Mustafa, who has long stated that the government of Kurti usurps power and uses it to establish dictatorship, restricting the freedom of citizens, and therefore should be removed from the exercise of powers. It should be noted that none of Kurti's critics suggested any alternative measures to combat coronavirus, did not call the measures he introduced ineffective, which testifies to the purely political background of their statements. Kurti argues that in the context of the Kosovo pandemic, it is necessary to focus on the fight against coronavirus and only at the end of this difficult time to hold extraordinary elections. The formation of a new government without elections is considered by the leader of Self-Determination to be a waste of time and a theft of power from his party, which took the first place in the elections on 6 October. We remind that Haradinaj himself, after announcing his resignation in the summer of 2019, remained in power for another six months, until the coalition of the Movement for Self-Determination and the Democratic League of Kosovo came to power, so on his part the accusations of usurping power against the government of Kurti sound extremely hypocritical.
