In Senegal, the Independence Day celebration was cancelled due to the pandemic
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Senegal's government cancelled celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the country's independence from France. This is reported by the Air Force Africa. In West Africa, 140 active cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. In the past month, 66 sick have recovered and one person has died, reporters said. Along with the declaration of a state of emergency, the closure of land, air and sea borders, including for all goods except essential goods, and the ban on public meetings, the authorities focused on tracking potential contacts between infected persons. Anyone in contact with an infected person was quarantined for 14 days. Although nearly 8,000 confirmed cases have been reported on the continent, Africa has not been affected as much by the virus as other regions of the world, but there are fears that if coronavirus continues to spread in Africa, it will be a disaster.
