AirBaltic suspended another 100 employees due to COVID-19
The representative of the national air carrier of the company airBaltic Alice Brieda said that the enterprise is forced to suspend 100 more people, writes the portal tvnet.lv. The company's president, Martins Gaus, acknowledged that the crisis over the COVID-19 was worsening. The news agency reported a previous reduction of 250 employees on March 11. The total number of employees released indefinitely is airBaltic 350. The company offers to leave someone on unpaid leave, terminates the relationship before the end of the probation period, or offers a complete termination of the contract. The airBaltic leadership calls these measures forced. Due to COVID-19 between 9 March and 31 May from Riga, the airline cancelled 580 flights. Communication with Italy and Israel was completely interrupted. In 2019, the airBaltic carried 5.049 million passengers.
